Romance

Her: Amma, do you know it’s romance day tomorrow?

Me: Pls call and ask appa what he’s doing about romancing me.

Her: Amma, erm, what are YOU doing about romancing appa?

I can’t seem to get the upper hand in any conversation with my kids these days!

Answers

Me: You need to do more around the house.

Her: I answer the phone… I answer the door…. I even answer you back amma!

– Says my pre teen with a mischievous gleam in her eyes.

Quit

Amma, if you quit when you are ahead,  you will never win the race. You should quit when you are done.

– Says the kiddo when I advise her to quit while she was ahead in our argument.

Cute, who me?

Says my preteen as we listen to the retro hour on radio:

It’s so cute! Amma, you are like a kid in a candy shop who jumps up and down all excited on seeing something. As soon as you hear a song you recognize, you’re like, ‘Oh, I love that song!’ and you sing along so excitedly. It’s quite cute, really.

– Ahem, I didn’t think anyone was listening. Really.

Oh well, might as well enjoy kiddo’s amused indulgence now, for the day is not far off when it’ll turn to acute embarrassment.
