Her: Amma, do you know it’s romance day tomorrow?
Me: Pls call and ask appa what he’s doing about romancing me.
Her: Amma, erm, what are YOU doing about romancing appa?
I can’t seem to get the upper hand in any conversation with my kids these days!

I can’t seem to get the upper hand in any conversation with my kids these days!
Me: Do you HAVE to go on the school trip?
Her: Of course, I do!
Me: But I’ll miss you sooo much. Why don’t I come with you?
Her: No amma, its only for kids. (*Eyes rolling*)
Me: Then why don’t you stay back with me…
Her: Amma, remember you already paid for it?
Me: Oh, forget that. What’ll I do without you for 3 days…
Her: Amma, I think it’ll do me good to spend some time away from you!
– He he he, it’s fun to have fun, especially if it’s at your 8 year old’s expense 😉
She’s buying you the dress, but it comes with a free lecture!
– Warns the older kiddo about mommy, as the younger one picks an expensive dress for herself.

Kiddo: Appa, what do you do at office?
Appa: There are a lot of people in my office. I manage them, give them work and tell them what to do.
Kiddo: Oh, so they do all the work in your office. Then, besides giving work to other people, what do YOU actually do?
And beleaguered appa concedes yet another round!
Me: I just sneaked some grapes from your sister’s fruit bowl and now I’m going to sneak some from you.
Her: You don’t have to sneak amma. I’ll share mine with you…
*And I turn away, pretending that a speck of dust just got into my eyes.*
